Spirit of IDPL

      1. Respect and Sportsmanship

Respect for All: Players, team staff, officials, and spectators must be treated with respect at all times. Disrespectful behavior, including verbal abuse, insults, or discrimination, will not be tolerated.

  • Sportsmanship: Players should exhibit good sportsmanship, including fair play, humility in victory, and grace in defeat. Celebrations should be respectful and not provoke opponents or fans.

  • Incentives for Sportsmanship: The league will implement an incentive system to reward exemplary sportsmanship. Points will be awarded based on criteria such as fair play, respect towards opponents and officials, and positive behavior on and off the field. The team with the highest sportsmanship points at the end of the tournament will receive a special Sportsmanship

  2. Integrity and Fair Play

Honesty : Players and officials must act with integrity, avoiding any actions that could be considered cheating or deceptive. This includes honest reporting of injuries and adherence to the rules of the game.

  • Fair Competition : All teams must compete fairly, without resorting to unfair tactics or gamesmanship. This includes avoiding actions like tampering with the ball or pitch.

3. Responsibility and Accountability

  • Player Conduct : Players are responsible for their behavior on and off the field. Misconduct will result in disciplinary actions, including fines, suspensions, or expulsions.

  • Team Responsibility : Teams are responsible for the behavior of their players and staff. Teams must ensure that all members understand and adhere to the league's ethical standards.

 4. Respect for Officials

  • Umpire Decisions : Umpire decisions are to be respected at all times. Disputes with umpire calls must be handled through appropriate channels and not during the match.

  • Official Authority : Officials, including referees and match supervisors, have the authority to enforce the rules and maintain the spirit of the game. Any form of intimidation or abuse towards officials is unacceptable.

5. Community and Inclusion

  • Community Engagement : Teams should actively engage with their diaspora communities, promoting inclusivity and fostering a sense of belonging and pride.

  • Inclusivity : The league promotes inclusivity regardless of gender, race, religion, or background. Discriminatory behavior is strictly prohibited.

  • Diverse Teams : Each team is encouraged to be diverse and representative of the wider diaspora community. This diversity enhances the cultural exchange and understanding among participants and fans.

6. Health and Safety

  • Player Welfare : The health and safety of players are paramount. Teams must ensure players are fit to play and provide appropriate medical support.

  • Safety Standards : Matches should be conducted in safe environments, with proper equipment and facilities. Unsafe conditions should be reported immediately.

7. Environmental Responsibility

  • Sustainability : Teams and organizers should strive to minimize the environmental impact of the tournament. This includes proper waste management, recycling, and reducing carbon footprints where possible.

  • Cleanliness : Venues should be kept clean and free of litter. Teams and spectators are responsible for maintaining cleanliness.

8. Conflict Resolution

  • Dispute Handling : Disputes should be resolved amicably and professionally. The league provides a structured process for conflict resolution, and all parties are encouraged to use it.

  • Avoiding Escalation : Efforts should be made to de-escalate conflicts on the field. Captains and team managers play a key role in managing their team's behavior.

9. Commitment to Improvement

  • Continuous Improvement : Players and teams should strive for continuous improvement, both in their skills and in their adherence to ethical standards.

  • Feedback and Learning : Constructive feedback should be welcomed, and lessons from past experiences should be used to enhance future conduct and performance.

10. Spirit of Cricket

  • Embodying the Spirit : The spirit of cricket is about more than just winning; it’s about playing with honor, respect, and a love for the game. All participants are expected to uphold these values.

By adhering to these morale and ethical guidelines, the IDPL aims to create a positive, respectful, and enjoyable environment for all participants and to uphold the true spirit of cricket. Promoting diversity and inclusion within teams will not only enrich the tournament but also reflect the true essence of a united and harmonious diaspora community. The sportsmanship incentive system will further encourage teams to embody these values, fostering a spirit of camaraderie and mutual respect.
